At the end of the day I was too tired to write blog - but it was well worth it. The day started with a high high mountain: >600m including some up and down and up and down - to an extend that the Harbach brothers would not believe me saying 'Nur noch eine kleine Schluppe' - which became the catch phrase of the day. Fortunately my jellyfish scar does not hurt anymore although it still looks very funky.
The landscape on the top was wonderfully green and the descent offered great views of the sea, ragged rocks and even a hidden stone carved tomb in the mountains and a church ruin down below. Long after lunchtime we arrived in the town of Myra - known for its huge stone hewn nekropole, its roman theatre and for being the place where St. Nikolaus was bishop - that is the guy that later became famous as Santa Claus! The nekropole and theatre area was packed with tourists - mainly Russian and German ones. Amazingly the guys at the ticket office invited us to a delicious coffee - despite meeting thousands of tourists each day - being around on a bicycle impresses people even there, yeah! For a late lunch we drove a little bit out of the tourist area - there no foreigner was to be seen and we feasted extensively. We had a hard time getting up from the meal - we felt the mornings mountains in our muscles and bones - again we had accumulated more than 1000m of altitude.
Slowly we drove out of Myra and cycled along a steep coast dramatically illuminated by the setting sun until we arrived in Finike where we pitched our tents on the beach.
