Beauty has to be earned. Esfahan is the jewel of Persia - but the way there is hard. But let me start at the beginning. We woke up in our castle after a long and not too cold night - we had blocked the windows and door of our room with some cardboard and our towels, so it only went down to 5° in our room. We picked one of our morning-sun terraces for breakfast and eventually started cycling around 10. As if the farewell from our castle would not have been hard enough already the first 10km were uphill with a very strong headwind. Fortunately the following long decent left us in a good mood. Eventually we came to the busy highway to Esfahan. It was still a bit descending so we could go pretty fast, but it was very very annoying: a lot of pollution and a lot of honking - most of the honkers just want to say welcome, but some truck drivers do not seem to have an idea of how freaking loud their horns are. If you use a megaphone to scream 'Welcome' in someones ear you can be sure that he won't feel very welcome.
All this was the prices we had to pay for getting to Esfahan. We washed off the dust from out castle and the pollution from the road and had a first look at the beauties of Esfahan before falling asleep.
