Day 171 Yazd - Ateshkadeh (Zoroastrian Fire Temple)

Yazd has the biggest surviving zoroastrian community in Iran - before the arrival of islam this early monotheistic religion was the main religion in the region. The fire temple in Yazd however is pretty new - build in the beginning of the twentieth century with the help of the bigger Parsi community in Mumbai/India. The temple is not particularly big or impressive, nevertheless it was interesting to see that people still pray to the fire - in this case a fire that has been continuously burning since at least 15 centuries.
