Lost in the cloud forest: Day 107 Niksar - Akkus

Once upon a time a brave young knight wanted to see the sea. He had seen many seas before, but this time he was venturing for the one and only, trve and evil Black Sea !
He had crossed dark forests and great cities, high mountains and barren lands and still he had not found the sea he was longing for. Where oh where should he go now ?
While resting in the splendid town of Niksar he consulted the mysterious oracle of Liber Faciei. After a long pondering silence the oracle murmured the following words: "Natürlich nach Norden ! Nekropolen neuentdecken ! Niedliche Nixen necken !“. Oha, que misterioso !
The knight immediately sent for his knave Trabant: "Quick! Saddle my horse Arthur! We shall go north into the mountains".
Soon they started their journey in good spirits. But just as the city fell out of sight Arthur would not go by itself anymore - just because the ascend to the first mountain started, tststs... The knight had to kick and spur a lot to make it go up. And they got higher and higher and higher - and before they knew it they had entered a cloud from below ! What a strange world was that ! The clouds swallowed all sound, everything was very calm and peaceful. Every now and then the fog would clear for a moment to show a colourful tree, a wooden hut or a strange animal on the roadside. Then suddenly Arthur started running on its own again and as they galloped out of the cloud a great lush valley opened up in front of them, the hillsides covered with grey rocks, yellow and red broadleaf and dark green pines - aaaah, what a magnificant sight after weeks of riding through dry steppes. More mountains towered on the other side, its tops hidden in more clouds. The knight quickly rushed through a small village at the valley floor and took on a new mountain. Beware ! This mountain was even higher and much more dangerous ! The first warning was a huge dead boar on the roadside. But there were living beasts, too ! While the knight once again was hardly kicking Arthur to make it go up a wild animal attacked ! First it just barked aggressively but soon it came nearer and nearer. The knight had to get of Arthur to show the wild animal its limit - first by shouting, then by stamping his feet, then by picking up stones for throwing and finally by shouting louder and more aggressively combined with long lasting eye contact - this eventually did the trick, fortunately noone was hurt. Back on his horse he got closer and closer to the clouds again and soon entered it. But what was that ? This clouds were so... ...so different: much denser and much more soggy ! You could not see very far and the knight had to direct Arthur to the relative safety of the roadside ditch whenever one of many strange metal vehicles approached from behind - even though he had decorated his horse with candles on both sides ! Fortunately the metal vehicles seemed not to be asking for trouble as long as he got out of its way. The knight still had to spur his horse, they went higher and higher and the clouds grew denser and denser. Oh, and they also grew more and more soggy - so soggy that they felt like they were riding on the bottom of a lake. The water started to shroud the knights eyeglasses and none of his garments was dry enough to wipe it of. Oh no ! When he reached the top he was practically blind ! What now ? Where they still on the right path ? Where should they go from here ? Would the clouds ever clear away ? His knave Trabant was not of big help either - he just kept hiding somewhere in the baggage and would not come out.
Eventually the knight tried to direct Arthur down a path as good as he could... Oh, what luck, a small town was lying quiet amongst the clouds.
Rambling halfblind through the streets the knight was finally approached by three lads who were marvelling at his horse and showed him to a tavern. For now the knight is save, dry and warm and Arthur is in the stable. But what will the next day look like? Will the clouds be gone? Will he ever find his way to the sea, the glorious Black Sea ?

  1. Haha, not without a reason I told the young knight to make his way thru the lands of Kurds. Although there are monsters too, especially human-like little creatures shouting "Hello, money, money!!!", at least the clouds keep away from this barren land, full of stones and old kavuns.
